So the calendar shows December, which is officially the first winter month. Since the temperatures have dropped here in London, I’ve added a few new basics to my wardrobe to get me through the colder months. The best one probably being my coat from Reformation. Other than that, I’m counting on warm, comfy knits, skinny black jeans, and basic tees to get me through the next couple of months. The only thing missing are new winter boots.
The problem with buying new boots is that it’s so difficult to find ones in a good quality that I can be sure will get me through more than just one winter. Additionally, I’d prefer to invest in a pair that’s sustainable and ethically produced, but I’ve yet to find any that also speaks to my fashion heart. I’ll keep you posted when I finally find the perfect pair. Until then; here are my current winter basics.
Cheap Monday black skinny jeans: Black skinny jeans have been a basic in my wardrobe for years and regardless of the season (except for those really hot summer days obviously) they prevent every outfit crisis. My current favourites are these ones from Cheap Monday, although not particularly sustainable, they are classic.
Femilet lace bra: This bra makes me feel feminine and comfortable all day long. I can’t recommend it enough.
Organic cotton tees from H&M Conscious collection: These simple tees from H&M’s menswear department are part of their Conscious collection and made from 50% organic cotton. They are durable, keep their fit and paired with my skinny jeans, they make up my everyday uniform perfectly.
& Other Stories cashmere knit: Skinny jeans and a tee just aren’t warm enough anymore, so this cashmere knit has been on constant rotation since I got it a couple of weeks ago. It’s so soft and luxurious and the classic grey colour and cut, makes it the perfect winter basic.
Essie nail polish: Nail polish is the easiest way to make me feel put together, I usually gravitate towards darker colours during winter, but this light grey fits perfectly with everything in my wardrobe, so I think it will be on my nails for most of the winter.
Delicate necklaces: Lately I’ve been loving delicate jewelry and these necklaces where birthday presents and have been on a constant rotation. I love how they can balance out a heavy knit and make it feel more elegant and feminine.
